The envelope, please. Astute KGI newsletter readers will recall that we announced a sign contest earlier in the summer and we are happy to announce our three winners. Our grand prize of a $50 dollar gift certificate to Johnny's Selected Seeds goes to Jennifer Love of Kentucky (USA) for her creative approach to a sign (pictured above) which proves that kitchen gardening is truly a movable feast.

kgisigncontest2_092106.jpgTied for second place are signs made by Phil Bogle of Oregon (USA) and Kelli Ploeger of Tennessee (USA). It was hard to choosing between the two so we didn't. Phil's sign (at right) is a digital one that can be used as a link button on a website, while Kelli's (above) has the merit of being constructed out of recycled products. For their prize, Kelli and Phil will have a choice of either a Cobrahead Precision Weeder or a copy of Ball Blue Book of Preservation.

Although not entered in the competition, KGI's Roger Doiron also made a sign for his own yard (below) which was a local success. For those interested, this sign is available for download as a pdf file and can be copied onto a disc and printed out at your local copy center. Please note that this a large sign and a large file (3 megabytes).
