Summer Harvest

Harvest.jpg

The Black Krim Tomato heirloom tomato is one of the stars this year. It is the one on the right (Egg Plant in the background with a Lemon Boy in front.) This Russian tomato variety hails from the Isle of Krim (Crimean peninsula) in the Black Sea to the south of the Republic of Ukraine. The sliced Black Krims has a natural salty taste and does not require much sasoning, only a hint of pepper. Yes, they are mis-shapen and some times do look ugly (only to some), and would never make it in a super market. But their taste is exceptional.
