Harmony Foundation is a non profit organization working to promote kitchen gardening among the low income rural and urban communities. The kitchen gardening is one of the most powerful source that help the low income communities to be self sufficient in their food needs.

The Harmony Foundation is active to promote kitchen gardening and through this low income communities will become self reliant and self sufficient.

These days the Harmony Foundation is active among the quake victims who have lost every thing, in the earth quake of 8th of Oct 2005.

The Harmony Foundation is focusing on restoring their kitchen gardens which were also one of their means of living.

THE SITUATION OF THE EARTH QUAKE AFFECTEES:

The earth quake of 8th Oct 2005, brought lot of suffering to the poor mountain settlers. These people are settled in the mountains for centuries, and they lived happy lives but they were poor. The majority of the people worked in other parts of Pakistan to support their families and women worked at homes and managed their needs with their kitchen gardens.

The families whose males worked in big cities were prosperous, but majority of the people worked in their areas, so they were poor, they hardly earn 20 USD a month.

In this situation

THE KITCHEN GARDENS IN THE EARTH QUAKE HIT AERAS:

There were thousands of kitchen gardens in the homes of the quake affectees but they all got destroyed and got buried under the building that fell on them. No organization is paying attention towards this part of their destruction. Every one is worried about so many other things, but neglecting this portion of their loss.

In these small home kitchen gardens they planted vegetables of their daily use and this helped them to be self sufficient in kitchen needs, and this helped to safe their sources.

They planted tomatoes, salad, green chilies etc, this help them to control their expenses.

THE PLAN OF HARMONY FOUNDATION:

The Harmony foundation is helping 1000 women to restore their kitchen gardens, along with their other needs.

SUPPORT FOR KITCHEN GARDENING FOR WIDOWS:

The kitchen gardens are the most important parts of the lives of widows, after this horrific earth quake. The kitchen gardens can support them, and can play very important part in their lives to stand on their feet.

THE BUDEGT:

To support each widow to restore her kitchen garden the sufficient financial aid is needed, so that they can restore their kitchen gardens and be supported by them. While restoring their kitchen garden, the HF plans to give one dinner set, cutlery and water set to each widow.

To restore one Kitchen garden and kitchen of the widow 100 USD will be needed.

1000 x 100 USD = 100, 000 USD

The Harmony Foundation among the quake victims-Pakistan.

Dear all,

The harmony foundation had decided to celebrate Christmas among the quake victims, therefore our team had left for quake affected areas on the 23 rd of Dec 2005. They had a beautiful program with the victims and santa claus distributed gifts among the victims.

The Harmony Foundation had press conference today, and we informed the press what Harmony Foundation is doing, for the quake victims.

The basic purpose of the HF is to restore kitchen gardens, affected due to earth quake, these kitchen farms were the only source of their daily living. and they are destryed.

On behalf on all kitchen gardners i wish all Kitchen gardners a very happy Christmas and a prsperous new year.

We in Asia started with Tsunami and ended with earth quake in Pakistan, the year 2005 have been very tough for the whole world, the hurricanes brought lot of loss in USA, anyway the prince of peace will protect us in 2006.

The cold winds are creaiting lot of trouble for the quake victims the tents they have are unable to protect them fro snow and cold winds.

We are trying to share their worries. I invite all of you, to pray for the quake victims in Pakistan as they need our prayers.

Harmony Foundation is a non profit organization working to promote kitchen gardening and self reliance through kitchen gardening in Pakistan. The basic purpose of HF is to help poor rural and urban women to be self reliant.

There are 500 women at the moments running their kitchen gardens. These women are being supported by HF with limited sources. These women belong to poor class and envision to develop this they have thoughts and courage but not sources, for this they seek our support.

I invite all friends to come and join the efforts of HF to help these poor women.
