KGI Newsletter: October 2006 |
Contents:
Gardening:
Food and Cooking: -Canning tomatoes step-by-step -Spicy cauliflower and cheese soup
Food for Thought: -The vegetable-industrial complex -A grassroots activism manual (without the grass)
We've stalled in our fall fundraiser with just $25 coming in since our last newsletter. Can you help get us moving again? We're trying to reach our goal by the end of 2006.
Please help us grow a better food system
"OUTREACH" Pronunciation: 'aut-"rEch Can you help us reach out by printing out and posting our one-page flyer (available as a pdf file or word doc) somewhere in your community? Put yourself on KGI's global map! Wouldn't it be great if kitchen gardeners in your area could have a way of connecting with each other. Well, they can and it all starts with you. Please consider adding yourself to our group map. Next year, we're hoping to launch our first bona fide local groups and this map will be a useful tool for getting a local chapter planted in your area.

Have you visited KGI's online store before? It may still be too early to start shopping for holiday gifts for others, but it's not too early to give yourself a present. At KGI, we believe in supporting local economies. If you can meet your garden and cooking related needs (books, tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) via a locally-owned and operated business in your area, please do and keep the money circulating locally. If you do buy things online, however, please consider buying through our store as a small percentage of your purchase helps support our education and outreach activities. Thank you.
